University Matters Teach-out Event – Theme: Mental Health
– Mental health matters. In this interactive session, participants will have opportunities
to reflect, with Ben Hannigan, on the organisation of mental health care and the ideas
and practices encountered within it, and with Lucy Series to consider aspects of the
legal framework in relation to mental capacity, social care and disability rights. Steven Stanley will then lead a discussion on mindfulness and the cultural politics of the
present moment, before Michelle Huws-Thomas, Thanasi Hassoulas and Kerry Hood
turn their (and our) attention to mental health in universities, including student and
staff wellbeing, and what can be done to make higher education workplaces healthy,
responsive and supportive.
